Band’s mastermind, Haruspex, comments: “‘The Megalithic Circle is the first single from our new album Ciclope. Our landscapes are studded with these spiritual circles made in an ancient past. They are a junction point for three worlds: the celestial one, the earthly one, and the infernal one. We need to enter this passage, close the circle and initiate the double spiral process”.

The fourth VOLTUMNA’s opus will be released on December 13, 2019 and the pre-orders are available here: http://bit.ly/Ciclope_CD

“Ciclope” marks a huge progression on a technical and melodic level, confirming the strong personality of a band now able to master an absolutely original style and concept.

“‘Ciclope’ will be heavy as a Giant’s step, atmospheric as the mist and evoking as a dark ritual chorus; all mixed like the band has already experienced in the past. It is our most expressive and introspective work. Every song is a step into the deep abyss of the past, into the unknown, where reality and mythic visions are just one. Where did we come from? And where will we arrive? This is the double spiral and the Etruscans well knew what we are approaching”, explains the drummer Augur Veii.

The artwork has been created by Viron2.0 aka Stefano Mattioni.

Fueled by an ancestral binding with their Etruscan roots, the music and concept of VOLTUMNA aren’t related to any contemporary ideological, cultural and religious movement, focusing instead on a historical and anthropological reinterpretation of the Ancient Wars.

The VOLTUMNA time machine welcomes on board everybody who loves the most advanced shape of extreme metal, maintaining at the same time the gaze turned to the ancient principles of a glorious past. The journey promises to be brutally exciting.

BIOGRAPHY
VOLTUMNA were born in 2009 by the hands of the only original member Haruspex (guitars, vocals), today flanked by Augur Veii (drums) and the main composer Phersu (vocals, bass, programming, production). The current power trio line-up follows a path of esoteric knowledge and traditional heritage, which fascinates the whole band and spreads a savage and ferocious creativity.
Beginning with the debut EP of Chimera (2011), the music of the VOLTUMNA reveals stylistic canons and cultural references that are substantially unique in the Italian scene, usually ruled by xenophilia. These qualities are even clearer in the first LP Damnatio Sacrorum (2013) and in the following Etruscan Discipline (2015), whose strong autochthonous imprint defines a peculiar and intriguing artistic proposal.
A steady growth especially in Italy, where VOLTUMNA become a landmark in the extreme metal environment, but also in Europe and United States, courtesy of previous collaborations with bands of international prestige such as Nile, Aborym, Hour Of Penance and Hideous Divinity, but also a live experience gained in major festivals worldwide.
Fueled by an ancestral binding with their Etruscan roots, the music and concept of VOLTUMNA aren’t related to any contemporary ideological, cultural and religious movement, focusing instead on a historical and anthropological reinterpretation of the Ancient Wars.
An accurate analysis of the Roman and Christian domination from the perspective of the defeated populations, that VOLTUMNA keep on pursuing in their third album Dodecapoli (2017), without however excluding philosophical, mythological and folkloristic suggestions of broader scope.
The genre proposed by VOLTUMNA flows into the stream of Polish blackened death metal. A style which partly reflecs the sound of Behemoth at their best, but enriched over time by a lot of diverse influences, from Swedish death metal (At The Gates, Dismember) to melodic/symphonic black metal (Dissection, Satyricon, Dimmu Borgir).
The band dedicates great attention to live performances, where VOLTUMNA deliver all their destructive potential and a very rare involvement of the audience. While privileging the gathering dimension and the human contact of the clubs, the group left its permanent trace in some of the major world festivals, including Ragnarok and Wolfszeit in Germany, Kaltenbach in Austria, Gothoom in Slovakia, Metal Gate Czech Death Fest in Czech Republic, Incineration Fest in England and Full Terror Assault in the United States.
Outside music in the strict sense, VOLTUMNA draw inspiration from apocryphal transcripts emerging from the dawn of time. Tales from forgotten civilizations or imaginary legends, handed down through oral tradition and native folklore, but whose symbolic and spiritual significance is more modern than ever.
Without deviating from their creative approach, VOLTUMNA are about to release the long-awaited fourth album Ciclope (2019), which marks a huge progression on a technical and melodic level, confirming the strong personality of a band now able to master an absolutely original style and concept.
The VOLTUMNA time machine welcomes on board everybody who loves the most advanced shape of extreme metal, maintaining at the same time the gaze turned to the ancient principles of a glorious past. The journey promises to be brutally exciting.
